The Book Thief

For my summer reading book I chose to read The Book Thief. So far I have Read eighty pages of my book. The main character in my book is Liesel Meminger. She is a Russian girl that was adopted by a German family. The strange thing about this book is that it isn't narrated by Liesel or any of her friends or family. It is narrated by some unknown person. He/She has shown signs that they are not of this world, at one point it was talking about how he collected souls; and how no one could ever do his job, which is why he can never take a vacation. I predict that the narrator will announce himself at the very end of this book. If  I had to guess who it is, I would guess that it is probably death.  The setting of this book takes place in Germany a little prior to World War Two. The town they live in is very small, but not too far from Berlin. They live in a town called Molching, the street they live on is called Himmel street. There are some other kids who live on the street as well. some of them are, Rudy, Frau, and Tommy. The major conflict is that Liesel had a baby brother as well, who was going to get adopted too. Unfortunately, he died on the train to Molching. Now it is just her with the Hubbermans. She has to try her best to fit in even though she has a huge obstacle to overcome, she can't read. At her age she should be able to read by now, but I assume her family prior to the adoption was to poor to have schooling. The reason why I infer this is because her mother couldn't afford to have children. One connection to this book to other works is that they made a movie about this book I believe just a year or two ago. I am planning on watching the movie after I read the book so I can compare the two.
